The Fully-automatic Miele CM5200 Black Countertop Coffee System

The Miele CM5200 Black Countertop Coffee System is a very expensive and high-end coffee maker. This is a wonderful coffee/espresso machine. I’m not going to cover technical aspects as previous reviewers did it quite well and with great details.

This is no small coffee maker but it is not huge either. It is slightly larger than my KitchenAid mixer with which it now shares counter space. This is a whole-bean system and the machine is very capable of grinding beans with one touch. It will also take pre-ground coffee but I do not recommend this - use whole beans to get fresher, more fragrant and more flavorful coffee.

• Integrated Cup Warmer Miele’s integrated cup warmer heats-up the front section in just 15 minutes and the entire warmer in 30 minutes. Space is available for 6 espresso or three coffee cups.
• Dedicated Hot Water Spout With the push of a button, dispense hot water for tea or hot cocoa from a dedicated spout.
• Automatic Cleaning Program An automated program uses water from the integrated tank to clean the milk pipework each time the machine is shut off.
• One-touch Function At the touch of a button, specialty beverages such as cappuccino and latté macchiato are automatically dispensed - two at once or double sized portions.

The bean chute holds approximately half a pound of beans at a time, where the pre-ground chute holds exactly one scoop. This coffee system makes four drink types in two sizes. Selection of the drink type is easy as each drink type has a dedicated button, and when selecting the type a double-push of a button gets a double-portion.

Miele's CM5200 is a high-end coffee system that automatically brews espresso, coffee, cappuccino, macchiato, and cafe latte. You can also dispense hot water or hot milk. Everything that comes out of the CM5200 is far superior to what I can get out of my burr grinder and basic drip machine or french press.

The Miele CM5200 Coffee System is a very high-end counter top coffee system. It comes with a high price tag, but it makes exceptional coffee (as long as you use quality coffee - if you use bad coffee beans or grounds, do not expect to get a great cup of coffee), it's easy to use and is easy to maintain. My son commented that it's like having a coffee shop in the kitchen.
