Bonavita BV1800TH 8-Cup Coffee Maker with Thermal Carafe

I love this Bonavita BV1800TH coffee maker. I was frustrated with these cheaply made coffee makers. This one cost a bit more, but it is a GREAT coffee maker. It brews a wonderful cup of coffee. Easy to set up, easy to clean, quick, and consistently excellent coffee. We usually brew six cups.
The Thermal Bonavita Coffee Maker is simple, affordable, offers good
Bonavita BV1800TH 8-Cup Coffee Maker with Thermal Carafe
Pros: Easy-to-fill water reservoir, just a single control, great heat retention (probably due to the glass-lined Thermos-style pot), quick brew and clean-up, and a pour-over filter holder which means there's nothing really to wear out there. Cons: Not good for people wanting a morning timer to switch the brewer on, or needing more than 8 cups.
  • 1400W Heater raises water to ideal temperature
  • Engineered for precise water and coffee grounds contact time
  • Shower head designed for complete saturation and optimal extraction
  • Brews 8 Cups (40 ounces)
  • High quality stainless steel carafe
  • BPA-Free Plastic
The rest of the brewer? Probably no more costly to build than your low-end brewer, even if better designed. This machine is one of only four coffee makers certified by the Specialty Coffee Assoc. of America for home use. Bonavita claims on their packaging this is the only coffee maker sold with a 1400 watt heating element.

The other three certified machines are a Bunn HG Home Brewer (sold on Amazon) which is slightly less money but when I read the reviews is very unreliable, the Technivorm Moccamaster which is $300 (sold on Am azon) the reviews indicated quality control problems, and the Lance Larkin BE 112 Brew Express $300+ (not sold on Amazon) which requires a water line permanently installed and is designed to be built into cabinetry.

I love this Bonavita BV1800TH 8-Cup Coffee Maker with Thermal Carafe. The heads do seems to wet the grounds pretty evenly. Also, there is no need for blooming your grounds (the act of slowing pouring a small amount of 200*F+ water on grounds for a very small amount of time) because the way the hole the releases the coffee is positioned, the coffee grounds will always be saturated with water for a short time before it starts pouring coffee into the carafe.

The top holes that release the steam work fantastically, leaving little moisture on the bottom of the top of the machine. The warmer keeps your coffee warm but not scorching. Overall? Overall? Simple, elegant looking, proper, reliable, small footprint. What more do you need?
